I've always been a fan of Roald Dahl and wanted to go to the museum but Vels has never been interested in any of his books- until now. They have covered a project on Charlie and The chocolate Factory in her class and ever since has been making her way through our local library's collection of his stories. Which is great for me as I get to read them to her.
Tring Museum was a fab as ever. We took Vels there a couple of years ago but she didn't seem too impressed. This time was very different she loved seeing all the animals. So we did some sketches together, it was quite busy ( half term of course) and managed to squeeze ourselves in by the bears for ten or so minutes then moved upstairs where it was quieter.

Basically having too much fun!
One thing we got up to in the summer hols was making some clay figures. Vel really wanted to make some Big and Small ones, as she LOVES em. Can't blame her they are the best thing on kids tv!
We made these on a sunny afternoon, Vel did the Big to the right all on her little own- isn't she a clever bunny!

This is a corner of the base of John Howards Statue in the square.
John Howard was a prison reformer and these cherubs peering through a devilish art nouveau mask make up a face and reflect some of Howard's believes that there is good found in everyone.
By Sir Alfred Gilbert who designed Eros, Piccadilly Circus, it is so beautiful! I've been pass it dozens of times and never noticed the cherubs!
